I wake up this morning to my alarm clock playing the Beatles. I'm still sick, and thus, am not pleased as it is
Alarm Clock: "I want to hold your hand! I want to hold your hand!"
Me: "Is it alright if you hold my fist instead!?!"
Repeat for 10 more minutes. Then I get up, not pleased with my rude awakening, and head upstairs. My mother asks "Are you going to have a bagel this morning?" She then looks over. "Something wrong?" I simply reply, with force "I hate my alarm clock."
The night previous was not good. I took a nap from
Now for most people who know me, I like to get outside. But with the temperature peaking just below the freezing point of water, that's not the best thing to do. So I'm chained to my bed, stricken with this ailment, with nothing to keep me company spare my massive Sudoku and my Chemistry text book. Just what I need. More nerd points.
Which reminds me. I was called a nerd by one of my friends who is also a nerd. That tells you something right there. And the reason is legitimate. I memorized a song that tells me the first 50 digits of pi. Each word in the song has the corresponding number of letters as that digit of pi.
So the first word in the song is 3 letters long, then second is 1, the 3rd has 4, 4th has 1, etc.

Dude, those songs/poems to help you memorize digits of Pi are lame.
I have memorized (though I haven't recited them in ages so maybe not so much anymore) 100 digits, and I use to know closer to 150. Cold, hard numbers.
Kurt is SO proud.
Feel better soon!
Well, cold hard numbers is one thing, but they cloud the beauty that is pi. Here is a number that is irrational, and mysterious in nature. Is there a reason why pi had to be irrational? Is there some hidden pattern to it? Are the answers to life contained in it?
By just hearing the numbers of pi, we lose this sense of mystery with it's digits, as we lose the flow of the numbers. The words used to memorize pi, however, have a flow of their own, adding to the effect that pi's own pattern has.
But, maybe that's to metaphysical. Or just weird.
Just stupid.
Pi is a number, which you say. I don't see how treating it as a number would detract from its awesomeness. It's like worshipping idols, which we know god ol' Yahweh doesn't appreciate.
And also, the answers to life are clearly in Pi, since the digits 4 and 2 will occur consecutively an inifinite number of times. The first time it occurs is at the 92nd(?) digit.
So in conclusion, my original point was that using those poems to memorize Pi are a cheap way to do so, compared to remembering the actual numbers.
And my new point is your argument makes no sense.
Alright. Enough's enough. Pi is a highly complex number, and as such, needs to be analyzed on many levels. Now, by memorizing the numbers in order, you miss some of the subtlies. Like a pattern going backwards, or A pattern in the even numbered digits of pi.
So yes, my arguement was quite bizzare, and lacked a cohesive statement. I think what I was trying to say is that by simply memorizing the numbers, you lose some of the complexity of the number itself. By using words, some of that complexity can be regained, in my mind. I hope this makes more sense to you Amber.
It makes sense, but I still disagree.
Mostly because you're generalizing.
But this is a stupid argument to begin with.
As long as we appreciate Pi, that is what counts. Unless one's form of appreciation is polysexual. I can't even imagine how that would work, but yuck.
This reminds me of a song I once wrote. 'Wrote' is definately the wrong word.
It was a hardcore song whose lyrics consisted of a recitation of the digits of Pi. It was called I Love Pi. It would have been br00tle.
For USAP: Battle of the Bands; you're song versus mine. Add that to the episode where Lisa does the robot in her dance-off with Maja.
Deck episode, fo' sheazy.
